http://oiyc.org/forums/index.php?app=calendar&module=calendar&do=showevent&cal_id=1&event_id=525

On Saturday, December 8th, there will be a boat viewing of lighted OIYC boats, open to the public, at Brandt's Landing Marina, starting at 5 pm. Christmas music will be playing and hot cider (fruit punch for the kids) and Christmas cookies will be available for all. Santa Claus will be at the marina for the children (and young at heart). The event will be publicized in the Islands Sounder, on our web site and, perhaps, with posters in local stores.

If the weather cooperates, boats will leave the marina at approximately 7:00 pm for a Christmas lighted boat parade. The route of the parade will be provided at a later date. This event was a huge success last time and promises to be bigger and better this year. It will be fun for OIYC boat owners and land lubbers alike!

The lighted boat viewing and parade on December 8th is our focus but we are also asking OIYC boat owners (at all marinas) to decorate their boats with Christmas lights and have them on from December 8th through New Year's Eve. It is suggested that a timer be used that turns the lights on at dusk each day and leaves them on for 4 to 6 hours. (Note - if LED lights are used, the electricity consumed will be very small.)

I hope that many members will participate. The boat viewing is fast becoming an island tradition and, if the weather cooperates, the boat parade will as well. We need volunteers who can provide snacks and drinks for those viewing the boats.
