This year's cruise was from Oct 4 through Oct 6. The Cruise Pilot, Bill Carlstrom, was sick and couldn't make it so Dianne Jordan and John MacLeod came off the bench as replacement co-Pilots. Thirty people on 14 OIYC boats attended the cruise. The weather was good and everyone seemed to have a great time!
The Spring "Boat Washing" Cruise is a traditional OIYC cruise. This year, the destination was once again Roche Harbor. Friday night, there was a potluck on the picnic barge and Saturday night, the OIYC cruisers had a BBQ steak dinner in the picnic barge tent. And, the ,now famous, OIYC 2013 Dinghy Championship Race was held.
This year, the Men's Work Party "Cruise" was to the OIYC Picnic Shelter to work on the Youth Sailing addition to the Picnic Shelter, as well as re-roof and re-paint the Picnic Shelter. I was only able to participate on the first day but, hopefully, someone else will add pictures of the next days' activities. Since this was one of the club's "cruises" for the year, this album was included in the Cruising section even though no one brought their boat (at least on the first day). Next year, it will probably revert to a "water" cruise, instead of a "land" cruise.
Probably the best part of the 2013 I-5 cruise to Seattle for the boat show, piloted by Maura O'Neill, was the "cruise-within-a-cruise" where participants went to the Seattle Yacht Club for a buffet dinner, either aboard Wes Heinmiller's Northern Light or in their own cars. Here are some photos of the occasion.
