OIYC New Member Application Process

Sponsoring applicants for Regular Membership
(31 or more years of age)

• Shall be sponsored by two OIYC Members (not member and spouse).
• Prospective member shall be introduced by sponsor at one Club function before proposal for membership.
• Sponsor obtains "Membership Proposal" instructions from the Membership Chairperson or Club website.
• Download Membership Application Form from the website. (see forms for download below).
• Return completed Membership Application along with a check for the applicable initiation fee to
  OIYC, P.O. Box 686, Eastsound, WA 98245 or directly to the Club Treasurer.
• One Sponsor or a member of the Board presents the Membership Proposal at a Meeting of the Board of Trustees who serve as the Membership Committee.
• The Board votes to accept the candidate. The applicant becomes a member at that time. New member will be asked to mail a check for a pro-rated sum to cover dues for the remainder of the year. (Fiscal year Jan. 1 to Dec. 31)
• Each member shall have voting privileges.

Intermediate Membership (26 to 31 years of age)

• Requirements same as for Regular Membership and shall have the same privileges.

• Shall pay Initiation Fees and Dues set by the club.

Junior Membership (7 to 26 years of age)

• Shall be sponsored by two OIYC Members.

• An Application form must be completed and returned with a check for Junior dues.

• There shall be no Initiation fee.

• One Sponsor presents the Application for approval at a Board of Trustees meeting.

• Junior Membership is nonvoting.

Sponsoring applicants for Student Membership

• With sponsorship of the Coach of the sailing team.

• Shall be members of the Orcas High School Interscholastic sailing team.

• The Coach presents the application for approval at a meeting of the Board of Trustees.

• There shall be no Initiation fee.

• Dues shall be set by the Club.

To apply to become a member, please complete the new member application and pay the initiation fee.
